"Commotion in the ocean, oooooaaaaah..." Think of lobsters and you think of three things; Salvador Dali, the B52s and Belgos! But now the lobster is beginning to feel it's little antennae around the world of fashion. First up there was the fantastic Schiaparelli dress, made (in 1937) for Wallis Simpson (see below photo taken of her in this dress by the famous photographer Cecil Beaton). Cue Isabella Blow, who'd been papped in both a lobster hat and a lurid pink lobster necklace. This was re-interpreted by Lady Gaga recently, when she wore this fantastic Treacy hat and a great see-through plastic outfit to go purchase a Chinese takeaway! This gesture is perfectly in keeping with one of the main ideas of Surrealism - take an object and put it in an environment in which you wouldn't expect to see it - et voila - we are back to Dali's totally fabulous lobster telephone! At the end I've stuck a picture of some super-kitsch material from nrfabrics on Etsy!

As you say, a totally fab-ski "et voila" - with panache! Bravo!
