Fortunato Depero Museum

I didn't actually realise that this museum existed until a couple of weeks ago. I discovered it by Googling "Depero" and then came across these amazing pics! The Casa d'Arte Futurista, (House of Futurist Art) in Rovereto, was originally founded by Depero in 1919 and reopened last year. Depero is the Modernist's Modernist! Although he's usually categorised as a Futurist artist, his work spans much more than this movement. Diaghilev commissioned him to produce sets for the Ballet Russes, and his beautiful Campari bottle is now a design classic. Depero also saw advertising as an art form; a very avant-guarde idea even then. In fact to this day you get the feeling that his work is much neglected, which is a real shame as his use of colour and his design ethos is very special. Check out his beautiful furniture too.
